Again we battled tough conditions on race day – with choppy water and big headwinds.  This transformed what was already a slightly hilly course into a vicious battle along rough Canberra roads.  It was a long day too; I was up at 6 and with a 3.5 hour drive each way, we didn’t get home until 11pm.

Despite this, there are many positives to share. I did a PB by 5 minutes,  a total time of 2:30:27.  To be completely honest, I was hoping to go a little faster.  However considering the conditions, and after seeing my my splits, I am stoked.  Although my bike and run were slightly slower, I swam 7 minutes faster than I did at Nowra!  7 Minutes!  I am still 3 minutes behind the lead pack however I just cannot believe this improvement.  A lot has got to do with the wetsuit, but during the race…
